Digital Companions
Digital Companions is a social innovation programme by MakeOmnia that empowers young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Intellectual Disability (ID), to navigate the digital world safely, confidently, and independently.
The programme combines SEN-friendly digital literacy bootcamps, community digital carnivals, youth volunteer support, and an interactive AI chatbot game to help participants develop essential skills in online communication, digital safety, privacy protection, and emotional well-being. Through guided, real-life digital scenarios, students learn how to recognise online risks, build positive digital habits, and become responsible digital citizens.
A key feature of the programme is its AI chatbot game, which provides a safe and engaging environment for students to practise real-world online interactions and receive instant feedback. Designed with accessibility and inclusivity in mind, the platform supports continuous learning for students while enabling parents, teachers, and volunteers to better guide their digital development.
By creating accessible and supportive learning experiences, Digital Companions helps SEN youth build digital confidence, strengthen digital resilience, and participate more fully in today’s connected society.
